In a victory for our public lands, yesterday the House
Education Committee of the Colorado State Assembly resoundingly
rejected a measure that would have forced the federal government to cede most of the 23
million acres of public land it manages in Colorado. The bipartisan 8-5 vote closed the door to
this ill-conceived measure that would have provoked only litigation and was almost
certainly unconstitutional. CMC Conservation & Education Director Scott
Braden testified in opposition along with representatives from other
conservation, recreation, hunting and outfitter groups.
